The Art After Session ~ Paints & Powders Theme ~ Heather

**NOTE**  Trash the Dress sessions often bring out strong emotions.  Some people get very upset at the idea of destroying a wedding dress for what they deem as “no reason”.  This type of session is not for everyone but for those that enjoy it, it is a chance to have fun, be creative, let out your inner child, be silly, edgy or dramatic and to make images that cause people to stop and react.  There are so many days spent worrying about keeping the dress perfect that it’s fun to let go and go to the other extreme.  Many of those people that react harshly also have kept their dress in a box in a closet for 30 years and have no plans of ever using it again.  Just remember, people are different.  Thank God we are not all the same.  Trash the dress photos are just about having fun and crossing the line of what you should do in a wedding dress.  I hope you enjoy the photos as much as my family did in making them for you. 🙂

I first met Heather and Ben while working a wedding together.  They owned a wonderful wedding film company called Sugar Leaf Films and we worked with each other a handful of times.  They have since moved to Texas and moved on from wedding films but Heather had always wanted me to photograph her “Trash the Dress” session.  She wanted to trash the dress using paints and powders.  This was a team photo shoot.  My wife Michelle, my studio manager Gina, my girls Reegan, Kinsey and Haven and Heather’s husband Ben all joined forces to throw powders, spew paint and pour 5 gallon buckets of colored water all over Heather.  It was a crazy day and one in which I said multiple times “Can you believe that this is actually my job??!”
