5 weeks ago I opened the doors to my very first portrait studio.  I am so excited about exploring this new venture.  I have never done studio work before and I was a little nervous about how it would go.  Would my clients like it?  Would I like it?  Would I be able to create images that I was proud of on a simple backdrop?  I didn’t know.  But I had already been getting a bunch of calls from my wedding clients from the past 6 years asking me to take photos of their babies.  And Winter is a killer for wedding photographers.  There just isn’t much going on at this time of year wedding wise.  But…portraits are different.  Babies are born anytime.  Kids need to get out of the house.  Mom’s always need awesome photos of their beautiful children.  I decided to jump and hope everything would turn out.

Well, it has been awesome.  I have the best clients and the best friends.  I have now done 17 sessions in the past 5 weeks and I have been learning so much every time I work in the studio.  I absolutely love kids and love seeing mom and dad’s face when they see the photos for the first time.  I love playing with the lights and the new backgrounds.  Right now we only have a few different backgrounds and some fun hats and blankets and toys but I couldn’t be happier with the first few sessions.
